Raw Jackfruit (kathhal)

Jackfruit or Kathhal in Hindi is a tropical fruit having loads of nutrients.

Health Benefits :

Improves Immunity: having a high amount of antioxidants and vitamin C helps to promote immunity.

Heart Health: Potassium in jackfruit regulates high blood pressure.

Enhances Vision: this fruit is also full of vitamin 'A' which improves your vision.


Bone Health: jackfruit is having loads of calcium levels which helps to strengthen your bones.


Good for Digestion: being rich in dietary fibres jackfruit improves bowel movements.



Raw Jackfruit Recipe :

Take a medium sized raw jackfruit (around 500 gm) and cut it into small pieces and boil it. (don't let it become be too soft ).
Take roughly chopped onions, 10-15 cloves of garlic, a piece of ginger along with 4-5 green chillies.
Mix all of them in a mixer till u get a fine paste.

Take a pan and put 4 spoons of mustard oil. Heat it and add the paste to it later. Put the flame low and add 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, 2 teaspoons red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala and salt according to taste.

Let this be on a low flame for 20 mins till the paste turns reddish brown and the oil makes a separate later on top (it might take an hour if on low flame or just 20 mins if it's on the medium-high flame). now add the boiled jackfruit pieces to it and mix it well.,.
Cover it with a lid keeping the flame low and put it off after 5 mins.
Leave it for 10 mins.
Now open the lid and garnish with some fresh coriander leaves.
The raw jackfruit masala is ready to serve.
